Dichos españoles / Spanish Sayings

En esta página de Facebook puedes encontrar muchos dichos españoles traducidos literalmente al inglés y con una explicación de su significado.

On this Facebook page you can find many Spanish Sayings literaly translated into English and an explanation of their meaning.

When we're going through an important and delicate situation, this saying reminds us to stay calm and act carefully, trying to avoid unnecessary mistakes due to the haste.

The origin of this saying might be one of the most questioned, since there are theories which talk about Charles III and Ferdinand VII or Napoleon Bonaparte. However, the oldest version stands that it was Emperor Augustus (1st Emperor of the Roman Empire), who used to urge his servants by saying "hurry up slowly".
